Associates who join our firm begin working in a specific practice group based on their experience and/or area of interest. Associates may have or develop experience and interest in other practice areas, which may enable them to transition from one practice group to another or to participate in more than one practice group.
The partnership track for associates at Jones Walker is seven years. Associates with prior experience, such as a judicial clerkship or work at a comparable law firm, may qualify for credit toward partnership at Jones Walker with the approval of appropriate firm management.
Associates receive regular formal and informal feedback on their performance and development at Jones Walker. A structured annual evaluation process allows associates to provide a self-evaluation of their performance and development during the year, and provides them with evaluations from the attorneys with whom they have worked during that time. The associates also receive feedback from attorneys throughout the year, and have mentors who are available to guide them in their professional development as well as all other aspects of associate life.
