April 6, 2010

Press Release

Rivas-MolloyHOUSTON, Apr. 6, 2010—Jones Walker is pleased to announce that special counsel Veronica Rivas-Molloy has been named a "Rising Star" in the 2010 edition of Texas Super Lawyers. Each year, the "Rising Star" honor is bestowed upon fewer than 2.5 percent of attorneys in a particular state.

Ms. Rivas-Molloy represents clients in a broad range of arbitration and civil litigation matters in state and federal court. Her practice focuses on complex commercial matters in the energy and petrochemical industries. She also has significant experience in employment matters. Ms. Rivas-Molloy is a 2001 graduate of the University of Houston Law Center, where she received her juris doctor degree, magna cum laude.

Each year, Super Lawyers asks attorneys to nominate outstanding colleagues under 40 years of age, or who have been practicing law for fewer than 10 years, as "Rising Stars" in the legal profession. Attorneys nominate those whom they have personally observed in action as opposing counsel, as co-counsel, or through other firsthand courtroom observation. An attorney-led research team then reviews the credentials of potential candidates, assigns points based on a set of defined evaluation criteria, and ensures nominees are in good standing with the respective state licensing agency. Nominees are ranked by point totals, and those with the highest scores are named to the "Rising Stars" list. To ensure a diverse and well-balanced list, the research staff considers factors such as firm size, practice area, and geographic location.
