Former Assistant U.S. Attorney Leigh Lichty Pipkin Joins Jones Walker

MOBILE, Ala.—Jones Walker is pleased to announce that former Assistant U.S. Attorney Leigh Lichty Pipkin has joined the firm's Mobile, Ala. office as a special counsel in the Business & Commercial Litigation Practice Group. Ms. Pipkin will also be a member of the firm's banking and creditors' rights team.

Prior to joining Jones Walker, Ms. Pipkin served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Alabama from 1999–2010. In this role, she handled a wide variety of appellate cases. Her legal background also includes the areas of real estate, bankruptcy, foreclosures, and banking law.

Before working as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, Ms. Pipkin was an attorney with Hamilton, Butler, Riddick, Tarlton & Sullivan, P.C., in Mobile, where she represented banks, mortgage companies, and individuals in civil defense litigation, bankruptcy, and real estate matters, including residential real estate foreclosures for the State of Alabama. In addition to her private practice experience, Ms. Pipkin served as in-house counsel for AmSouth Mortgage Company in Birmingham, Ala.

A 1986 graduate of the Cumberland School of Law, Samford University, Ms. Pipkin is the author of the Alabama Real Estate Foreclosure Handbook and has taught legal education courses on foreclosure in Alabama. She is also a 1983 graduate of The University of Alabama, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Corporate Finance and Investment Management with a minor in Economics.
