Jones Walker partner Rick Schroeder was quoted in the February 9 edition of the Los Angeles Times in the article “New Orleans Justice System Scrutinized” which reports on the investigation by two criminal court judges as to whether indigent suspects are adequately represented.  Schroeder, who is the vice chair of the firm’s White Collar Crime & Corporate Compliance Practice Group, was quoted saying that his legal group was considering a request of the court to become involved in the proceedings “in pursuit of a solution, working with the court,” and that it was “unacceptable for several thousand poor defendants to be languishing in jail without having seen a lawyer.
