Jones Walker Intellectual Property Associate Passes U.S. Patent Bar Exam
December 28, 2005

Baton Rouge intellectual property associate Amelia Smith has passed the United States Patent and Trademark Office Registration Examination for Attorneys and Agents. In order to practice before the Patent and Trademark Office, an attorney must meet stringent technical academic background requirements and also pass the exam. The tested material is over 2,000 pages and success on the exam is difficult to achieve. The national pass rate for the exam rarely exceeds 65 percent.  Ms. Smith has a B.S. and M.S. degrees in biomedical engineering. Upon completion of final paperwork, Ms. Smith will join six other Jones Walker attorneys as registered patent attorneys.
