Jones Walker Adds Two Attorneys in Mobile Office

MOBILE, Ala.—Jones Walker is pleased to announce that Kathryn W. Drey and Jason R. (“Jay”) Watkins have joined the firm as special counsels in the firm’s Mobile office. Both attorneys will practice in the firm’s Business & Commercial Litigation Practice Group.

Kathryn Drey has significant litigation and appellate practice experience in matters including employment and labor law, health care, commercial litigation, and insurance defense. In addition, Ms. Drey’s practice has included medical malpractice, contract and transactional work, sports law, and educational law. Prior to joining Jones Walker, Ms. Drey was a partner at Ball, Ball, Matthews & Novak, P.A. and Associate University Counsel for the University of South Alabama. She is a graduate of Tulane Law School and is licensed to practice in Alabama and Florida. Ms. Drey is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Mobile Ballet.

Jay Watkins has many years of litigation and trial experience focused in areas such as insurance defense, bankruptcy and commercial litigation, and personal injury defense. Mr. Watkins represents financial institutions in the areas of commercial collections, mortgage foreclosures, bankruptcy, loan closings, workouts, and loan restructuring. He frequently counsels businesses and creditors in bankruptcy proceedings, with issues involving preference actions, administrative expenses, executory contracts, and the automatic stay. Prior to joining Jones Walker, Mr. Watkins was a law clerk to Judge Randolph Baxter of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Ohio and a partner at Ball, Ball, Matthews & Novak in Mobile. Mr. Watkins was named a “Rising Star” in the areas of Bankruptcy/Creditors’ Rights and Business Litigation in the 2011 edition of Alabama Super Lawyers. He is a graduate of The University of Alabama School of Law.
