Bonds Negotiates Successful Settlement of Wrongful Death Case
October 30, 2014

BondsEmily Sides Bonds, a partner in the firm's Business & Commercial Litigation Practice Group in the Birmingham office, recently negotiated the settlement of a wrongful death case for a client, a retired executive and previous owner of an industrial centrifuge company. On a post-retirement visit to the company, which he had sold to his son, the client agreed to demonstrate the operation of the centrifuge to prospective purchasers. After the sale, the two purchasers of the facility both died and the building burned down when an explosion occurred while using the centrifuge to decant components of rocket fuel. Ms. Bonds successfully persuaded the client's two homeowner insurance companies and his umbrella coverage carrier to resolve the claims against him despite their denial of coverage.
