Thomas A Casey, Jr., a partner in the firm's Business & Commercial Litigation Practice Group in the New Orleans office, gave two presentations at the recent "Class Action Litigation in America—a National Symposium" sponsored by the American Bar Association's Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section on March 10-11, 2016. Mr. Casey’s first presentation addressed recent developments regarding the United States Supreme Court's Shady Grove opinion, which dealt with the enforceability of state law-based class action restrictions in federal court. The second presentation focused on the varying legal standards applied by the federal courts of appeals on whether to accept class certification appeals under Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 23(f).
