May 14, 2004

Miami managing partner, Tom Morante, has been named by the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) Secretariat, as a U.S. panelist on the NAFTA Chapter 19 Dispute Settlement Panel. The NAFTA Secretariat, established under Chapter 20 of the North American Free Trade Agreement, is responsible for administering NAFTA's dispute settlement provisions. Chapter 19 Panels render declaratory opinions as to whether amendments made by a NAFTA signatory to anti-dumping and countervailing duty laws are consistent with the WTO Agreement and NAFTA, and review anti-dumping, countervailing duty and injury final determinations of the NAFTA signatories.
