On September 16, Miami partner, Thomas F. Morante, participated in the program, “Investing in Latin America: Coping with Political Risk,” and delivered the speech, “Free Trade Agreements and Bilateral Investment Treaties in Latin America,” at the 2003 Conference of the International Bar Association in San Francisco, California. The program was co-sponsored by the Latin American and Caribbean Steering Group and the Insurance Law Committee of the Section of Business Law of the IBA. Some 3,000 attorneys attended the 2003 IBA Conference, and the majority of the delegates were from foreign countries.
