Southern Business & Development Names Jones Walker One of "Top 10 Law Firms That Understand Economic Development"
April 28, 2008

Southern Business & Development magazine has named Jones Walker to its annual list of “Top 10 Law Firms that Understand Economic Development.” The list names law firms that help companies find great locations in the South for operations, identify optimal tax structures, maximize incentives, and build cost-effective facilities, among other aspects of economic development. Southern Business & Development surveyed economic developers in the region to establish the top 10 list.

Jones Walker was recognized for its role in economic development in the Gulf South, including the ongoing work to restore commerce following Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Partner Fred L. Chevalier was commended for his involvement in major economic development projects, including Gulf Opportunity Zone (GO Zone) benefits, tax increment financing, special tax districts, tax sharing, and tax credits.

Southern Business & Development’s “Top 10 Law Firms that Understand Economic Development” is published as part of a series of “Top 10” lists. The magazine, headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, strives to represent the American South as the most attractive region in the country for businesses and capital investment, and is the only magazine that exclusively represents the South’s economic development community.
