NEW ORLEANS—Jones Walker is pleased to announce that R. Troy Van Orman has joined the firm as an associate in the Corporate & Securities Practice Group.

Mr. Van Orman joins the firm after working for Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP in that firm's Tokyo and San Diego offices. He also worked for Sullivan & Cromwell LLP in Tokyo from 2004–2006.

Mr. Van Orman's professional experience includes mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and capital markets. In his M&A practice, Mr. Van Orman focuses on strategic merger and acquisition transactions and tender offers, with an emphasis on cross-border transactions. Mr. Van Orman has represented funds seeking to make investments in Japan with the development of fund structure, financing, and agreements with Japanese fund managers. He has also represented corporations and underwriters in global securities offerings and related transactions.

Prior to practicing law, Mr. Van Orman spent three years as an English teacher in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan, as part of the Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme (JET). Mr. Van Orman is a 2003 graduate of Harvard Law School, where he served as an article editor of the International Law Journal and was a member of the Harvard Asia Law Society. He received his B.A. in Psychology from Brigham Young University – Hawaii in 1997, where he was the Valedictorian and a member of Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society.
