In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, Jones Walker attorneys were hired by the City of New Orleans to represent them in DC. Alex Trostorff and Fred Chevalier worked with the firm’s DC Government Relations team to assist in developing, passing and implementing the Katrina tax relief package, known as the Gulf Opportunity Zone (Go Zone) package. In the last three months, Trostorff and Chevalier have conducted workshops in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Plaquemine, Gonzales, Lafayette, Atlanta and most recently at the Governor’s Economic Development conference to help educate the public about the available incentives.
