HOUSTON and NEW ORLEANS—Jones Walker is pleased to announce that two attorneys have joined the firm's Business & Commercial Litigation Practice Group:
Veronica Rivas-Molloy, special counsel, Houston
Brett S. Venn, associate, New Orleans
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Rivas-Molloy worked as an associate in the litigation section of Baker Botts L.L.P.'s Houston office. Her practice focuses primarily on complex commercial matters in the energy and petrochemical industries. In addition, she has significant experience in labor and employment matters. Ms. Rivas-Molloy has significant trial experience, having tried more than 20 jury cases. She was born in Mexico and is fluent in Spanish.
"Veronica's experience with the energy industry is a great fit with our existing energy practice in the firm's Houston office," said Houston-based Business & Commercial Litigation partner Michael B. Donald. "She is a wonderful addition to our team, and having her litigation experience will allow us to better serve energy- and petrochemical-industry clients across the nation," he added.
Ms. Rivas-Molloy volunteered her time as a prosecutor with the Houston Municipal Court Volunteer Program, and previously served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Ewing Werlein, Jr., of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas in Houston, Texas, immediately following her graduation from law school.
Ms. Rivas-Molloy is a 2001 graduate of the University of Houston Law Center, where she received her juris doctor degree, magna cum laude. She was the Articles Editor of the Houston Law Review, served as a prosecutor for the Honor Court, and was the Vice President of the Hispanic Law Student Association. Ms. Rivas-Molloy received her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish in 1998, and her Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice in 1997, both from the University of Texas at El Paso.
Mr. Venn joins Jones Walker following a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Chief Justice Gerry L. Alexander of the Washington State Supreme Court. He is a 2008 graduate of Gonzaga University School of Law, where he received his juris doctor degree, summa cum laude, and was ranked first in his graduating class. At Gonzaga, Mr. Venn served as Associate Editor of the Gonzaga Law Review. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Politics and Government from the University of Puget Sound in 2003. Mr. Venn was a Teach For America corps member in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, from 2003–2005.
