Jones Walker Presents Annual Labor & Employment Seminar
January 29, 2010

Jones Walker's Labor & Employment Practice Group will host its annual labor and employment seminar March 11, 2010, in New Orleans. This year's seminar is titled "The Times They Are A-Changing: Change is What the Obama Administration Promised, and Change is What We've Got," and will cover a variety of hot-button issues in labor and employment law. With countless changes to legislation and even more new laws on the way, it is imperative that management professionals stay on top of changes so that they can protect their businesses from potentially costly and reputation-damaging litigation.

This seminar will cover subjects of interest to management professionals, including:

  • New employment laws and prospective legislation
  • The Obama Administration's plans—the most aggressive legislative agenda for changing the workplace since the New Deal
  • Health care reform and recent employee benefits developments
  • Immigration compliance issues
  • How to be Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) compliant in the new millennium
  • Compliance with Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) changes
  • Recurrent wage and hour violations
  • Ensuring union defenses in the face of increased union activity

Members of Jones Walker's Labor & Employment Practice Group will be on hand to discuss the issues above, as well as what businesses can do to prevent costly lawsuits and compliance violations. Jones Walker's Labor & Employment attorneys offer clients one of the largest, most diverse, and experienced labor and employment law practices in the region.

The seminar will be held at Jones Walker's New Orleans office, 201 St. Charles Avenue, 52nd floor, New Orleans, LA 70130, from 8:30 a.m.–4:15 p.m., March 11, 2010.
