The Alabama contingent of Jones Walker's Government Relations Practice Group represents a variety of businesses and industry trade associations in pursuing their legislative and public policy goals. In recent years, members of the Alabama practice have been active participants in comprehensive reforms of Alabama's campaign finance and ethics laws and have represented business interests on a variety of measures involving insurance, workmans compensation, and liability issues. In addition, the group has worked toward tort reform and revise other aspects of government reform in representation of business interests throughout Alabama. The team offers clients significant government relations experience, including legislative affairs, with an emphasis on the areas of government regulation, economic development, tax matters, and tort reform issues.

Members of our team have extensive experience in legislative procedures and state government. Our team includes attorneys who are former government officials who served in state administration, and who served as committee chairs and gubernatorial candidates. Our Alabama attorneys work closely with team members in Washington, D.C. to effectively further our clients' interests in legislative matters dealing with insurance, energy and commerce, banking and securities, defense, the environment, maritime industry, healthcare, trade, tariffs, and federal taxation.

In Alabama, we assist clients by planning and implementing strategies to effectively manage the legislation, regulation, and appropriations that govern businesses at the state level. Our services include monitoring Alabama legislative and executive branch activities, lobbying, assisting in public procurement contracts, participating in regulatory agency administrative proceedings, and obtaining various licenses and permits. With regard to regulatory matters, we represent clients in the areas of banking and finance, economic development incentives, natural resources, taxation, public procurement, gaming and ethics compliance.
