In the wake of a natural disaster, Jones Walker's attorneys have experience working at the local and national levels on recovery issues. We work closely with government agencies to best serve our clients' interests. At the Louisiana state level, for example, we have maintained contact with the Department of Insurance, the Department of Environmental Quality, the Office of Financial Institutions, and other agencies. We have done the same in other states throughout the Gulf South in various disaster situations. In the event that we anticipate an emergency or special legislative session following a disaster, we will compile recommendations on issues that need to be addressed.

Following past large-scale natural disasters in Louisiana, our attorneys maintained frequent contact with the state Office of Financial Institutions and the Department of Environmental Quality to stay current with banking and environmental issues, respectively. Our Government Relations Practice Group maintained contact with the Department of Insurance to stay current with all types of insurance matters that affected our clients.

In addition to our work with government agencies, we can also assist companies with securing government contracts. Our attorneys are prepared to handle issues parallel to government rebuilding efforts, from financing and securing business endeavors to handling constitutional concerns, such as eminent domain.
