Following Hurricane Katrina, partner Alex Trostorff worked on proposed federal tax relief/incentive legislation for Katrina victims. Additionally, the firm worked closely with Congress on the proposed federal tax relief/incentive legislation. Partner Fred Chevalier, in conjunction with the president of the National Association of Bond Lawyers, worked on legislation that allows governmental bodies more flexibility to issue tax-exempt bonds to finance reconstruction projects and housing.
As a group, Jones Walker’s attorneys worked closely with Congress in confecting the tax-exempt financing, grant, and federal guarantee laws to aid reconstruction efforts for public and private interests. Our experience in these areas, especially our post-disaster experience following Hurricane Katrina, makes us particularly well-situated to help clients work their way through Hurricanes Gustav and Ike.
