A partner in the firm's Business & Commercial Litigation Practice Group with more than 25 years of experience, Joe Lowenthal advises and litigates for a variety of individual and corporate clients primarily in the fields of health care, insurance coverage, contracts, and torts. His clients include colleges and universities, pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers, hospitals, and physicians.
Mr. Lowenthal's representative matters include litigation on behalf of a managed care service organization in multiple federal and state district courts across the United States, with responsibility for managing and coordinating the national defense for the managed service organization.
He also was actively involved in first-party insurance recovery for property damage and business income losses caused by Hurricane Katrina with the value of the claims in excess of $500 million.

- Allianz Global Risk Insurance Co. v. The Administrators of Tulane Educational Fund: Represented a major educational institution in litigation over coverage for its property damage and business interruption losses sustained in Hurricane Katrina.
- ACE USA v. The Administrators of Tulane Educational Fund: Represented a major educational institution in a first-party property damage and business interruption claim arising out of Hurricane Katrina.
- The Administrators of Tulane Educational Fund v. Amlin Underwriters, et al.: Represented the university in errors and omissions claim against insurance broker.
- Our Lady of Holy Cross College v. Religious and Charitable Risk Pooling Trust of the Brothers of the Christian Schools and Affiliates: Represented the college for recovery of property damages and business income losses arising out of Hurricane Katrina.
- Robinson v. Astra Pharmaceutical Products Inc., et al: Represented a drug product manufacturer in a week-long jury trial resulting in a defense verdict.
- Represent a major national retailer in federal and state litigation in Louisiana for claims alleging improper discounting of medical bills.
