Barrett Rice is a partner in the firm's Admiralty & Maritime Practice Group. She represents clients primarily in the construction, maritime, insurance, and transportation and logistics industries.

Ms. Rice's experience includes cargo and party charter disputes, collision and allision litigation, bills of lading, property damage claims, claims for and against limitation of liability, contracts of affreightment, right-of-way disputes, marine insurance, marine pollution matters, and other offshore litigation. She has also represented clients in personal injury litigation and Jones Act matters.

Ms. Rice holds a Transportation Workers' Identification Card (TWIC), which allows her to access ports and board vessels.

Representative Matters

  • Successfully obtained an injunction against neighboring property owner in the Port of Lake Charles; negotiated agreement between parties for future use of Calcasieu ship channel in front of properties.
  • Successfully defended client in a Jones Act jury trial in Corpus Christi, Texas.
  • Successfully defended client in a Jones Act bench trial in the Eastern District of Louisiana.
