In particular, he is frequently asked to assist companies during on-site safety and health investigations, as well as in subsequent litigation, with the Department of Labor.

Mr. Veters has defended clients in state and federal courts, as well as in state and federal administrative agencies. As a result, Mr. Veters and the firm have developed relationships not only with local governmental agency regulators, but also with those individuals on the regional and national levels.

Mr. Veters has handled cases in different jurisdictions throughout the United States and has also had the opportunity to argue before the United States Supreme Court against the Department of Labor in the case of Elaine Chao v. Mallard Bay Drilling. In addition, he assists clients in developing safety and health policies and procedures, contingency plans for responding to employee complaints, and he conducts safety and health audits that include a review of required OSHA written programs for completeness. Mr. Veters defends employers who have been issued citations and penalties by OSHA. He has litigated cases against OSHA at all levels, including the OSHA Review Commission and federal appellate courts. Mr. Veters has had the opportunity to argue before the United States Supreme Court in a case that defined the permissible jurisdictional boundaries between OSHA and the U.S. Coast Guard. He has also successfully negotiated settlement agreements with OSHA at the pre-citation stage and after citations have been issued.

In addition to his OSHA practice, Mr. Veters focuses on the areas of general litigation, with an emphasis on maritime personal injury as well as tort and commercial litigation. He serves as secretary of the board of directors of the Greater New Orleans YMCA and is on the Willwoods Community Board of Trustees. He is also a board member of Holy Cross College.
