Construction Practice

Douglas Whiting is a special counsel in Jones Walker's Real Estate Practice Group and practices from the firm's The Woodlands office. Mr. Whiting has more than 25 years experience in developing power production facilities and in negotiating engineering, procurement, and construction contracts and related large equipment purchase agreements and subcontracts. 

Mr. Whiting's construction experience has focused on facilities involving the generation and transportation of electric power, including turbine purchase and long-term maintenance agreements; oil and gas exploration, field services, and related equipment sales; refinery construction, upgrades, retrofits, and equipment sales/purchases; and precious metals mining construction. These projects have been located on six continents. Mr. Whiting has represented contractors, owners, and equipment sales and service companies. He is licensed in Texas and California. 

Mr. Whiting also has project financing experience, and has actively represented owners and developers in the project financing of about two dozen greenfield and brownfield power plant projects. He lived in Germany for two years and conducted most of his activities in German during this time.
