Trevor Wilson is a partner in the firm's Tax & Estates Practice Group. Mr. Wilson practices in the areas of federal income taxation, business formation, tax-exempt organizations, executive compensation, estate planning and the administration of successions.

Mr. Wilson's federal income tax practice focuses on advising clients on structuring their U.S. and international business activities to minimize federal income taxation, both in the ordinary course of business operations and upon a sale or merger of the business. In addition, he advises clients on their federal tax reporting and withholding obligations on payments to employees, vendors and independent contractors.

Mr. Wilson's business formation practice focuses on advising clients on the choice of entity to conduct business operations, as well as counseling clients on regulatory restrictions and non-tax considerations affecting the structure and operations of a business.

Mr. Wilson's tax-exempt organizations practice focuses on advising clients on forming a non-profit organization and obtaining recognition of tax-exempt status of the non-profit organization from the IRS. In addition, he advises tax-exempt organizations on structuring their activities to avoid unrelated business taxable income and maintain their tax-exempt status.

Mr. Wilson's executive compensation practice focuses on advising clients on structuring compensation arrangements with their executives and key employees. In particular, he advises clients on structuring compensation arrangements to comply with Section 409A and correcting compensation arrangements that violate Section 409A.

Mr. Wilson's estate planning practice focuses on advising clients on succession plans for their personal finances as well as their businesses. He advises clients as to the preparation of wills, financial and medical powers of attorney, medical directives and trusts. In addition, he advises clients on structuring buy-sell arrangements to allow for the efficient succession of their businesses.

Mr. Wilson's administration of successions practice focuses on advising clients on the administration of their loved one's estate, including their rights as executors, heirs or legatees. 

Mr. Wilson holds a Master of Laws in Taxation from the New York University School of Law. He received his juris doctor degree from Louisiana State University, Paul M. Hebert Law Center, where he was a member of the Louisiana Chapter of the Order of the Coif and the Tullis Moot Court Board. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, magna cum laude, from Louisiana State University.

Mr. Wilson is a member of the Partnerships and LLCs Committee of the American Bar Association's Section of Taxation, the Louisiana State Bar Association's Section of Taxation and the Society of Louisiana CPAs.
