Scott Chenevert is a member of the firm's Corporate & Securities Practice Group and has been a partner since 2006. Prior to joining Jones Walker in 2001, Mr. Chenevert practiced with Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP and Reed Smith LLP in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Chenevert's broad-based business practice includes areas such as securities, coporate governance, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and energy. His clients include public companies and privately owned companies engaged in virtually all areas of the energy industry, as well as service providers, private capital portfolio companies, and other businesses in a variety of industries.
Mr. Chenevert has extensive experience in public and private offerings of equity and debt securities, and routinely structures and negotiates acquisitions and financing transactions. He also provides corporate and boardroom advice to a variety of public and private companies, including compliance with U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) disclosure laws and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX); preparing proxy materials; implementing anti-takeover defenses, including stockholder rights plans; drafting contracts; and assisting clients with corporate governance matters.
An active member of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber (BRAC), Mr. Chenevert currently serves as Chair-Elect of the organization's board of directors and executive committee. He is also a member of BRAC's business development committee.
