Kenneth Steely is a special counsel in the firm's Government Relations and Business & Commercial Litigation Practice Groups and practices in the areas of gaming law, litigation, and governmental affairs. Mr. Steely is an Affiliated Young Gaming Attorney in the International Masters of Gaming Law, and is the only attorney in the state of Alabama who has been accepted as a member of the organization.
Prior to joining Jones Walker, Mr. Steely worked for the Alabama Attorney General's Office as Special Deputy Attorney General, where he advised the Attorney General on policy, legislative, gaming law, criminal and civil litigation, and election law issues.
Mr. Steely has worked closely with Alabama's gaming laws at both the state and federal levels, representing clients concerned with operating and managing gaming facilities and with gaming machine manufacturers. Mr. Steely has also represented nonprofit and charitable organizations interested in conducting gaming operations, as well as those interested in legal fundraising options in Alabama.
Mr. Steely also represents clients in state and federal courts in Alabama, provides candidates and elected officials with election law advice concerning state and federal election laws, and counsels those holding public office with regard to Alabama's Code of Ethics.
