Trey Cloud is a partner in the firm's Baton Rouge office. He is a transactional attorney with a practice focused primarily on energy and commercial real estate.

Mr. Cloud represents pipeline companies on all phases of interstate and intrastate midstream projects. His midstream experience includes assisting clients with survey access, title review, right-of-way acquisitions, landowner negotiations, regulatory issues, expropriations and preparation of transactional documents (i.e. final offer letters, pipeline servitude agreements, releases, etc.). Mr. Cloud also represents oil and gas companies with respect to abstract review, rendering preliminary, supplemental and division order title opinions, advising on complex mineral and royalty rights, mineral lease negotiations and curative work. He has extensive experience working with clients in the Haynesville Shale.

Mr. Cloud also represents developers and investors in each phase of their commercial real estate projects, from initial planning and acquisition through title review, due diligence, financing, and development. His representation includes complex negotiations between clients and lenders, including multi-tiered financing strategies, refinances, and workouts. His clients include developers of office buildings, shopping centers, Traditional Neighborhood Developments (TNDs), apartment complexes, condominiums, hotels, and mixed-use projects.

Additionally, Mr. Cloud has experience in representing both landlords and tenants in preparing and negotiating commercial leases. He has negotiated leases with national tenants ranging from specialty to anchor status and spanning a wide variety of retail segments—fashion and apparel, home furnishings, restaurants, grocery stores, franchises, cinemas, bookstores, and auto parts—and has done so in the context of outparcels, office buildings, strip centers, lifestyle centers, malls, mixed-use developments, and warehouses. Mr. Cloud also has experience negotiating lease workouts and lease settlements for both landlords and tenants. He is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).

Having received an undergraduate degree in Business, Management and Administration from Louisiana State University in 1997, Mr. Cloud can relate to and understand the business issues, concerns, and motivations of his clients. He calls upon his business experience to implement a practical, pro-business approach in his legal practice.

In addition to his experience in energy and commercial real estate, Mr. Cloud is a licensed patent attorney with United States Patent and Trademark Office. He has multiple years of experience in patent prosecution, and has worked on technologies ranging from proteins to coastal restoration devices.
