John Kolwe is a partner in the firm's Business & Commercial Litigation Practice Group. Prior to joining Jones Walker in 2009, Mr. Kolwe was a partner at the law firm of Longman Russo, APLC. He is a certified public accountant and has been practicing law since 1991.
Mr. Kolwe has been directly involved in complex oil and gas and commercial litigation matters pertaining to exploration and development operations on land and in the Gulf of Mexico. He has assisted clients in transactions involving the purchase, sale, and financing of oil and gas properties. Mr. Kolwe also assists clients with the negotiation and preparation of leases, farmouts, participation agreements, seismic permit and lease option agreements, and joint operating agreements. He also reviews titles and prepares title options.
In addition to his oil and gas practice, Mr. Kolwe has represented and advised a wide range of creditors in bankruptcy proceedings, and he also advises small- and medium-sized businesses on general corporate contract matters. He is a frequent speaker at various seminars sponsored by the Lafayette and New Orleans Professional Landmen's Associations and the Lafayette Society of Certified Public Accountants.
