John Kolwe is a partner in the firm's Business & Commercial Litigation Practice Group. Prior to joining Jones Walker in 2009, Mr. Kolwe was a partner at the law firm of Longman Russo, APLC. He is a certified public accountant (inactive) and has been practicing law since 1991.

Mr. Kolwe has been directly involved in complex oil and gas and commercial litigation matters pertaining to exploration and development operations on land and in the Gulf of Mexico. He has assisted clients in transactions involving the purchase, sale, and financing of oil and gas properties. Mr. Kolwe has extensive experience in connection with the representation of exploration and production companies in the negotiation and preparation of leases, farmouts, participation agreements, seismic permit and lease option agreements, joint operating agreements, and various other contracts routinely used in the oil and gas industry.  He also represents those clients in connection with title review activities, including preliminary drill site title opinions and division order title opinions.

In addition to his oil and gas practice, Mr. Kolwe has represented and advised a wide range of creditors in bankruptcy proceedings, and he also advises small- and medium-sized businesses on general corporate contract matters. He is a frequent speaker at various seminars sponsored by the Lafayette and New Orleans Professional Landmen's Associations and the Lafayette Society of Certified Public Accountants.
