Robert Waddell joined Jones Walker in 2009 as a partner in the firm's Business & Commercial Litigation Practice Group. He previously was a shareholder in Longman Russo, APLC, in Lafayette, which merged with Jones Walker in 2009.
Mr. Waddell is a U.S. Registered Patent Attorney, and maintains an active litigation practice focused on intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and unfair competition. He also focuses on technology-related causes. Mr. Waddell's practice also includes commercial and business litigation.
In addition, Mr. Waddell counsels clients with products and services pertaining to mechanical, chemical, and pharmaceutical technologies, including technologies relating to oil and gas drilling and production. He has experience with managing patent portfolios, drafting and prosecuting U.S. patent applications, patent reissue and reexamination practices, prosecution of foreign patent applications, conducting patent infringement/non-infringement analyses, conducting patent validity/invalidity analyses, licensing and sale of intellectual property, and procuring trademark and copyright registrations.
Mr. Waddell co-founded and served as Vice-Chair of the Intellectual Property Law Section of the Louisiana State Bar Association from 1995–1997.
