Robert Waddell is a partner in the firm's Business & Commercial Litigation Practice Group. Before joining Jones Walker in 2009, he was a shareholder in the Lafayette-based Longman Russo, APLC

Mr. Waddell practices in the areas of intellectual property litigation involving patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, unfair trade practices, and unfair competition. Mr. Waddell's practice also includes commercial and business litigation, including breach of licensing, confidentiality, consulting, and employment agreements. He has represented clients throughout the United States in federal and state courts and before the International Trade Commission. Mr. Waddell has been appointed an Arbitrator in complex commercial disputes.

A Registered Patent Attorney, Mr. Waddell counsels clients in a variety of technological fields including oil and gas drilling and production, oilfield equipment, chemical and pharmaceutical products, healthcare, manufacturing, and consumer products. Mr. Waddell has managed patent portfolios; drafted and prosecuted U.S., International, and foreign patent applications; handled U.S. patent reissue and reexamination proceedings; procured U.S., International, and foreign trademark registrations and U.S. copyright registrations; conducted patent infringement/non-infringement and validity/invalidity analyses; conducted trademark clearance and infringement/non-infringement analyses; negotiated and prepared intellectual-property and commercial agreements, including purchase, license, transfer, manufacturing, distributorship, consulting, and confidentiality agreements; and coordinated IP due diligence for sellers and purchasers.

Mr. Waddell co-founded and served as Vice-Chair of the Intellectual Property Law Section of the Louisiana State Bar Association from 1995-1997.
