Christopher Couch is a special counsel in the firm's Banking & Financial Services Practice Group and practices from the firm's Birmingham office. His practice includes advising banks and other financial institutions on regulatory and operational matters, civil and regulatory actions involving commercial and regulatory claims, and compliance with banking and lending laws and regulations. He has advised large regional banks with respect to consumer compliance issues regarding new products and services including payment systems.

Mr. Couch also has experience advising privately held businesses on corporate governance and securities issues, including private placement of equity securities, corporate and project finance, and recapitalizations.

Prior to joining Jones Walker, Mr. Couch served as Vice President of Strategy and General Counsel of New Gas Concepts, Inc. In these roles, Mr. Couch directed all aspects of legal policy and project development strategy for the firm, which was involved in alternative energy projects. From 2005–2007, Mr. Couch was a Banking and Securities attorney with Miller, Hamilton, Snider & Odom, which merged with Jones Walker in September 2008.

Mr. Couch is a 2002 graduate of The University of Alabama School of Law, where he received his juris doctor degree, magna cum laude, in 2002. During law school, he served the Alabama Editor on the Alabama Law Review from 2001–2002.
