Donald W. Washington is a partner in the law firm of Jones Walker LLP and practices from the firm's Lafayette office. His practice encompasses complex civil and criminal litigation and the representation of corporations and individuals in internal and government investigations. His experience spans diverse areas including litigating and investigating matters involving oil and gas issues, commercial disputes, white collar crimes, healthcare and other frauds, False Claims Act, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, environmental, patent infringement, Lanham Act, trademark, unfair trade practices, torts and other civil and criminal litigation.

He served as United States Attorney for the Western District of Louisiana from 2001 to early 2010. Mr. Washington has more than 20 years of experience as a trial attorney, litigator and counselor. He has led investigations and trial teams, as well as prosecuted cases involving criminal and civil violations of federal statutes. While with the U.S. Department of Justice, he also served in other leadership positions including the Attorney General's Advisory Committee, the DOJ-sponsored Executive Committee for Federal Prosecutors, State Attorneys General, and District Attorneys, and the DOJ's Terrorism, Controlled Substances, and Native American Issues Committees. He previously held engineering, business, and law positions while employed with Conoco Inc., including serving as Chief Counsel for Conoco's Gulf of Mexico Division.

Mr. Washington received his juris doctor degree from South Texas College of Law, and his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point.

He currently serves on the boards of Innocence Project of New Orleans, Public Affairs Research Council of Louisiana, University of Louisiana Foundation, Community Foundation of Acadiana, Pines to the Gulf Girl Scout Council, and Goodwill Industries of Acadiana.
