Lynn Barrett is a special counsel in the Business & Commercial Transactions Practice Group and is a member of the firm's Health Care practice. Ms. Barrett focuses on health care regulatory, compliance, transactional, and operational issues, and has extensive experience advising health care systems, hospitals, home health agencies, skilled nursing facilities, and other health care providers. Ms. Barrett has significant health care transactional experience and has participated in various acquisitions, bond offerings, and financing transactions. In particular, she has a great deal of experience advising health care systems with respect to all aspects of operations, from complex regulatory issues involving hospital and physician arrangements to medical staff matters to bioethical issues. Ms. Barrett also has experience in negotiating clinical trial agreements, and has structured and participated in numerous Institutional Review Boards.

Ms. Barrett joins Jones Walker after serving as Deputy General Counsel for a health care district in South Florida. In this position, which she held from 2005–2009, Ms. Barrett handled regulatory, corporate, transactional, and other matters for the five-hospital public health system, which included a primary care network, a home health agency, and a skilled nursing facility. During her tenure, she assisted with a number of system-wide projects, including the $32-million acquisition of an acute care hospital and adjacent properties, as well as the structuring and roll-out of an enterprise-wide electronic medical records system.

From 1999–2005, Ms. Barrett served as Managing Senior Counsel, Florida Region, for one of the largest hospital companies in the United States, for which she directly provided and oversaw the legal representation of 16 hospitals in Florida. In addition, she served as Senior Corporate Attorney, Office of General Counsel, for a premier nonprofit health system in South Florida.
