Vernon Wells, II is a partner in the firm's Business & Commercial Litigation Practice Group and practices from the firm's Birmingham office. Before entering private practice in 1975, Mr. Wells was a captain, judge advocate, in the U.S. Air Force. His litigation practice has been remarkably varied, and has included the representation of hundreds of plaintiffs and defendants in many areas of law and fields of business. Mr. Wells also counsels clients on litigation avoidance and contract negotiation.

Mr. Wells has handled cases involving antitrust law; corporate litigation; representing plaintiffs and defendants in derivative and shareholder litigation; commercial, contract, and general business disputes; construction disputes; employment litigation; computer and software disputes; insurance litigation, including direct representation of insurers in bad faith, fraud, declaratory judgment, and other litigation, and representation of insureds at the request of insurance companies; defense of professionals; medical malpractice; products liability; personal injury and wrongful death litigation for plaintiffs and defendants; land use litigation; and real estate practices litigation, including Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA) and Truth in Lending Act (TILA) claims.

He has tried cases in the state and federal courts of Alabama and adjacent states, and is also experienced in mediation and arbitration. Mr. Wells has also defended a number of class action cases. He believes in approaching every case with enthusiasm, creativity, and innovation, applying fresh approaches to recurring problems.
