David Martin is special counsel in the firm's Business & Commercial Transactions Practice Group and practices from the firm's Jackson office. He is an experienced banking, securities, and finance lawyer who primarily has used his experience to counsel, advise, and represent entities in the insurance industry. He has formed private and publicly held insurers and insurance holding companies, as well as insurance agencies and other entities. He has worked with clients in a wide variety of matters ranging from significant mergers and acquisitions and reinsurance transactions to routine regulatory matters such as rate, form, and other filings. He also has provided legislative and government relations services to insurance entities and others. 

Mr. Martin serves as counsel to the Mississippi Life and Health Insurance Guaranty Association and the Mississippi Comprehensive Health Insurance Risk Pool Association. He has served as counsel to the Mississippi Commissioner of Insurance for five Mississippi insurer insolvencies.

Mr. Martin has been legal counsel for asset backed public financings, primarily public offerings, that total nearly $2 billion. He also previously served as counsel for two significant nonprofit corporations that provide financial, counseling, and other services to Mississippi students and their families in order to facilitate appropriate quality education for Mississippi students. He currently serves as a member of the boards of directors of these corporations.
