Ted Jones is a partner in the firm's Corporate & Securities Practice Group and Private Equity team. He advises and works with public and private companies, private equity and venture capital funds, and individual and institutional investors in a variety of transactional and regulatory matters.  Mr. Jones also advises private fund managers, investment bankers and other investment advisors and broker-dealers with respect to compliance under federal and state securities laws and regulations.

Prior to joining Jones Walker, Mr. Jones was an investment banker with the Baton Rouge office of Stephens Inc.  Before returning home to Louisiana, he practiced corporate and securities law in Silicon Valley.  Immediately following law school, he served as legislative counsel to the Honorable W.J. "Billy" Tauzin in the United States House of Representatives in Washington, D.C.

Representative Experience

Mergers and Acquisitions:

  • Represented publicly-traded company in its sale of offshore oil and gas services assets to a Colorado-based private equity firm.
  • Represented privately-held Gulf Coast shipyard interest in its restructuring and sale to a Connecticut-based private equity firm.
  • Represented national outdoor retailer in a direct sale to a Canadian pension plan.
  • Represented New York-based private equity firms in connection with the divestiture of a radio broadcast conglomerate.
  • Represented Louisiana-based mutual insurer in its demutualization and sale to a California-based hedge and private equity fund interest (first-ever demutualization in Louisiana).

Capital Raising Transactions:

  • Represented private funds in connection with portfolio investments totaling approximately $8 billion.
  • Represented prominent foundation in connection with a series of hedge fund investments.
  • Represented Louisiana-based family in connection with an investment in Utah-based private equity fund.
  • Represented private and public companies in equity, debt and non-dilutive financings totaling roughly $ 4 billion.

Fund Formation & Governance:

  • Served as fund formation counsel to domestic and offshore funds raising approximately $5 billion to invest in the U.S., Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
  • Represented institutional private equity fund  in connection with its conversion from a Delaware to a Cayman Islands limited partnership.
  • Served as fund governance counsel to private funds with approximately $ 20 billion in aggregate assets under management.
