Energy Practice

Jeff Gray has practiced law for more than 25 years and is a partner in the firm's Real Estate Practice Group, practicing from the firm's Baton Rouge office. He concentrates in the areas of commercial and industrial real estate development, land use, and zoning, as well as investment and financing transactions.

Mr. Gray has a broad business background with a focus in real estate and financing transactions, and has advised numerous clients in connection with the purchase, sale, and leasing of a wide assortment of commercial and industrial properties. He is experienced in the representation of national and international corporations in the acquisition, leasing, and financing of multiple sites throughout Louisiana and the United States.

Mr. Gray has prior experience as a tax specialist in the tax section of KPMG Peat Marwick, where he provided tax advice to a number of large estates and corporations.  He is a respected title insurance agent in Louisiana, having written billions of dollars of title insurance since 1988. He is vice president of the firm's title company, Baronne Title Co., Inc, and is an authorized agent for First American Title Insurance Company, Fidelity National Title Insurance Company of New York, and Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Company.

Mr. Gray also has experience advising clients in the energy sector as both an accountant and attorney. He has provided tax advice to one of the largest privately held oil and gas companies in Louisiana, as well as other large publicly held energy companies. He has advised Fortune 100 oil and gas companies in the acquisition of multiple retail sites throughout the State of Louisiana. Mr. Gray has advised natural gas companies in the acquisition and development of large natural gas storage facilities and has written title insurance policies insuring those transactions valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars. He regularly performs due diligence and curative work related to mineral clients. He has also reviewed title and provided opinions to companies in connection with the development of the Haynesville Shale.

Mr. Gray has lectured in both Texas and Louisiana on the subjects of complex real estate transactions, title examination, secured transactions, and tax matters.
