Bill Shaughnessy is an associate on the firm’s Construction practice team, based in the Atlanta office. His practice is focused on construction and infrastructure projects, contract review and negotiation, construction litigation, alternative dispute resolution, and government contracting. He represents a variety of clients in the construction industry including, owners, general contractors, design-build contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Mr. Shaughnessy’s experience ranges from representing a design-builder on a $400 million highway and bridge design-build project in the Pacific Northwest involving complex geotechnical and design issues, to representing a design-build contractor on a $125 million dispute on a major Texas Transportation construction project involving claims for lost productivity, disruption, differing site conditions, and cumulative impact, to representing a global manufacturing company in a AAA arbitration dispute with more than ten parties related to the construction of $1.5 billion design-build Government project in Utah. He currently represents a contractor in an arbitration case involving the construction of a $60 million dollar windfarm project located in the Great Plains with issues involving delay, acceleration, and defective work. 
Additionally, serving as lead counsel Mr. Shaughnessy recently represented a commercial roofing subcontractor in a Federal Court trial involving the construction of a Government facility involving claims of breach of contract, wrongful termination, bad faith, and payment and performance bond claims.
In addition to his construction practice, Mr. Shaughnessy has experience representing clients in a wide variety of litigation matters including contract disputes, lender liability, fraudulent conveyances, and commercial asset recovery in all aspects of litigation in state and federal courts.
Mr. Shaughnessy is a graduate of Georgia State University College of Law, where he received his juris doctor degree, and served as President of the Sports and Entertainment Law Society. He graduated from Mercer University, cum laude, receiving his B.B.A. in Law and Economics.
Prior to beginning his legal career, Mr. Shaughnessy played professional baseball with the San Diego Padres in 2008. He currently is active in the greater-Atlanta community coaching youth baseball.
