John R. Guenard is an associate in the firm’s Business & Commercial Litigation Group and a member of the Corporate Compliance & White Collar Defense Team. He works on a diverse range of disputes, including complex commercial litigation, criminal prosecutions, government investigations, and appeals. 

Immediately before joining Jones Walker, Mr. Guenard worked for a prominent litigation firm in Washington, D.C., focusing on complex commercial litigation. 

Prior to that experience, he served as a law clerk to Judge Edith Brown Clement on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit in New Orleans. Prior to his clerkship, Mr. Guenard served in the U.S. Army, first as an infantry officer, followed by several years in separate, consecutive roles as prosecuting trial attorney and defense counsel while stationed in the Middle East, Asia, and the U.S. 

Mr. Guenard earned his juris doctor degree, summa cum laude, from Tulane University Law School, where he received numerous academic awards and was inducted into the Order of the Coif. While in law school, he served as Editor in Chief of the Tulane Law Review. Mr. Guenard earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from the University of California at Santa Barbara.
