Ryan Johnson is a partner in the firm's Business & Commercial Litigation Practice Group and is the office head for the firm's Baton Rouge office. Prior to joining Jones Walker, he clerked for Judge Frank J. Polozola, the Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana.
Mr. Johnson has represented clients in a wide range of litigation matters in state and federal court, including a variety of commercial disputes. Mr. Johnson also litigates matters before Louisiana administrative agencies and boards, as well as before arbitration tribunals.
Mr. Johnson's experience includes representing clients in state law "blue sky" securities claims, as well as representing securities brokers and brokerage houses in claims for unfair trade practices and breach of contract. In the area of complex litigation and products liability, he has represented a number of RV manufacturers in a multi-district litigation proceeding involving more than 800 individual lawsuits arising from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. He successfully represented a third-party health care administrator in a putative class action, which included 250,000 class members, obtaining dismissal of all claims brought against the third-party administrator.
Within the construction industry, Mr. Johnson has represented general contractors in various disputes with subcontractors, and has also represented subcontractors in asserting public and private works act liens. He also represented a construction program manager in a large-scale public works dispute and represented clients in real properties disputes between multiple co-owners. In addition, Mr. Johnson represented manufacturers in product liability claims related to pipeline monitoring equipment. He has also litigated various aspects of estate and probate proceedings.

- Defended departing broker and brokerage house in unfair trade practice, tort, and employment agreement claims seeking injunctive and other relief.
- Defended local municipality in injunction action to stop public works project funded by publicly issued bonds.
- Defended state agency in action seeking injunctive and other relief related to investment of public funds.
- Represented construction contractors in disputes with subcontractors related to defective construction and workmanship.
- Represented large investment bank in state "blue sky" claims in suit involving over 60 plaintiffs and 15 different defendants.
- Represented program manager in dispute related to large-scale public works project.
- Represented property owners in dispute regarding ownership of property and accounting for revenues derived from jointly-owned property.
- Represented RV manufacturers in large-scale multi-district litigation proceeding.
- Represented third-party health care administrator in putative class action involving approximately 250,000 class members.
