Baton Rouge environmental special counsel, Boyd Bryan, recently authored an article, "Managing Environmental Liability When Acquiring Oil and Gas Properties," originally published in the September/October 2004 issue of Landman magazine (the publication of the American Association of Professional Landmen), that was reprinted in Volume 42, No. 1 of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation Journal in July 2005. The article addresses the legal bases for environmental liability when acquiring oil and gas properties and strategies for managing that liability, including the performance of environmental due diligence, preservation of statutory defenses, drafting of contractual provisions, and structuring of the transaction.
