The unusual continues to now become standard operating practices. While the grand jury process is traditionally cloaked in secrecy, yesterday's interviews and comments from the foreperson of the Georgia grand jury investigating election interference by Donald Trump in the 2020 election almost pulled back the curtain on what has happened.
While her comments did not reveal any specific details of what took place in the grand jury room, they came awfully close.
This will not upend any of the charging decisions that are being made by the Fulton County District Attorney, but they will add an additional level of scrutiny and motion practice when those charging decisions are made public.
In my opinion, the foreperson "walked right up to the line" on what could be disclosed.
