Michael Drew is a partner in the Litigation Practice Group, where he focuses on health and disability insurance, commercial general liability insurance, government contracts, construction, and commercial disputes. Michael serves as co-chair of Jones Walker’s Construction Industry Team and is co-lead of the construction team of the Litigation Practice Group.
Michael has developed significant practices in two distinct areas of law: government contracts and healthcare litigation.
Michael has extensive experience litigating disputes arising out of and relating to health and disability insurance, including benefit disputes, provider payment disputes, and matters under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act. He represents major healthcare insurers in states across the Gulf South, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.
Michael provides effective counsel to contractors and subcontractors with respect to bids, contracts, and other issues that arise out of the provision of products and services to federal, state, and local government entities. He has particular experience in government contract litigation, including disputes arising under Louisiana public bid and procurement laws, as well as the Federal Acquisition Regulations and Contracts Disputes Act.
Michael also represents clients in commercial disputes. In 2010, he served as interim litigation counsel for a Fortune 150 corporation and acts currently as Louisiana counsel for multiple Fortune 500 companies in the construction and maintenance of their retail operations in the state.
Prior to joining Jones Walker, Michael practiced for more than four years at the Washington, DC, law firm of Steptoe & Johnson LLP, where he focused on insurance and government contract litigation.
