Physician and Other Referral Source Arrangements–Lynn M. Barrett

  • This session will cover reviews of physician and other referral source arrangements, certain risk areas, and best practices.

Physician Practices: Legal and Compliance Issues–Kathryn W. Drey

  • This session will cover the legal and compliance issues in connection with acquiring, employing, and managing physician practices. This session will also include some insight about integrating, promoting quality, and retaining physicians.

Compliance Trends–Myla R. Reizen

  • This session will cover various compliance trends, focusing on recent trends with government settlements, investigations, auditing, and reviews.

HIPAA and HITECH—Where Are We Now?–Lynn M. Barrett

  • This session will discuss recent HIPAA and HITECH enforcement actions and settlements, current focus areas of the Office of Civil Rights, and strategies for compliance.

Off-Label Use of Pharmaceuticals–Steven F. Casey

  • This topic will include an examination of what hospitals can do to evaluate potential liability for injuries cased by off-label pharmaceuticals and an update on the current status of failure to warn cases in drug use.

1:30–2:00 PM:
Labor & Employment Trends in the Health Care Industry–Kary B. Wolfe

  • This session will cover a variety of current labor and employment trends in the health care industry, including: issues with reductions in force, ongoing union campaigns and unfair labor practice decisions, wage and hour class actions, wellness programs, and retaliation claims.
