Robert Bieck is the head of the firm’s professional liability practice and is a member of the securities and corporate litigation, international, and white collar crime practice areas. He represents securities brokers, banks and other financial institutions, and other corporations, as well as their directors, officers, and other employees in matters arising under the federal and state securities laws, banking laws, general corporate laws, and the Employee Retirement Income Security Act. He also represents accountants and attorneys in matters arising from their activities in these fields. His work in these areas includes counseling, compliance, internal investigations and the defense of private and class actions, arbitrations, governmental and self-regulatory organization enforcement actions, handling the civil side of parallel civil and criminal, and regulatory and criminal proceedings, and related insurance coverage issues both for assureds and insurance carriers. Mr. Bieck also represents clients with regard to international transactions. Additionally, he handles contract negotiation and litigation under civil and common law as well as Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act litigation.
Mr. Bieck has handled the civil side of parallel proceedings involving corporate, securities, banking, and professional liability issues since starting with Jones Walker 30 years ago. He also conducts internal investigations and advises clients on related matters. He has practiced before the Securities and Exchange Commission, various securities self regulatory organizations and state securities regulatory agencies, as well as various federal and state courts. He is also a member of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association – Legal & Compliance Division, the National Society of Compliance Professionals, and American Bar Association Business Law and Litigation sections committees.
