An attorney with Jones Walker for more than 30 years, David Edwards is a member of the Tax & Estates Practice Group. He advises individual clients on wealth transfer at minimum tax cost, in addition to traditional estate planning areas of wills, trusts, and powers of attorney. He also advises clients on marriage contracts and other aspects of property obligations stemming from marriage. Furthermore, Mr. Edwards' practice includes the administration of decedent's estate and settlement of trusts, as well as charitable planning. He is a Board-Certified Estate Planning and Administration Specialist as certified by the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization.

Mr. Edwards has been an active participant in bar activities and associations, including the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, in which he has been a Fellow for more than 20 years. He is currently a Regent in the College and serves on its Executive Committee. He is also a member of the American Bar Association's Sections on Real Property, Probate and Trust Law and Taxation, as well as a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association's Sections on Trust, Estate, Probate and Immovable Law.

In the community, Mr. Edwards is a member of the Board of Advisory Editors of the Tulane Law Review, a member of the Planning Committee of the Tulane Tax Institute, a member of the Tulane University President's Council, President of the Board of Governors of the Tulane Health Sciences Center, a member of the Graduate Education Advancement Board of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Trustee of the Collins C. Diboll Private Foundation, a Director of A Studio in the Woods, and President and Trustee of the New Orleans Botanical Garden Foundation. He is also a Trustee of the New Orleans Museum of Art, Secretary and Chair of its Legal Committee, a member of its Executive Committee, and formerly served as its vice president.
