Jesse R. "Jay" Adams, III, and John F. Fletcher, both partners in the firm's Tax & Estates Practice Group in the New Orleans and Jackson offices, presented at the Institute for Professionals in Taxation's 37th Annual Conference held in Orlando, Florida on June 23-26, 2013. Mr. Adams' presentation leading the general session was titled, "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: Recent Developments in Sales and Use Tax," and highlighted the good things that happened for taxpayers both judicially and legislatively; the bad things taxpayers should try to avoid; and the ugly traps for taxpayers and how to find a silver lining where possible. Mr. Fletcher's presentation titled, "RAR Reporting for State Purposes," discussed the best methods to approach the IRS audit from the state perspective and cope with the Revenue Agent Report ("RARs").
