Bill Backstrom, Jay Adams, and Andre Burvant, partners on the state and local tax team in the New Orleans office, each spoke on panels for the Council on State Taxation 2022 Tax Property Workshop in Denver, Colorado on September 13–15, 2022. Bill presented “Incentives and Credits – Take Advantage of the Opportunities & Avoid the Pitfalls,” which reviewed the property incentives and tax credit programs offered by state and local governments. Jay presented “Show Time! Mock Property Tax Dispute Resolution – Tony Awards Pending,” which covered potential issues leading up to trial in tax dispute resolution and offered insight on effective negotiations and options to avoid assessment appeals. Andre presented “The National Front Part II – Property Tax Litigation,” which explained the impact of property tax litigation developments on the businesses and operations of taxpayers.
