On July 19-21, New Orleans tax partner Bill Backstrom and tax special counsel Mike McLoughlin gave presentations regarding corporate income and franchise taxation for accountants, attorneys, and other professionals at the New York University Summer Institute in Taxation held at the Westin New York at Times Square. Mr. Backstrom presented on state tax issues related to intellectual property and Mr. McLoughlin was part of a panel discussing how states are addressing tax shelters. The three-day seminar, sponsored by the New York University School of Continuing and Professional Studies Center for Finance, Law, and Taxation is an advanced program in state and local taxation.
