The group presented “Visible Taxes Hidden Costs,” exploring the reasons for hidden costs in the areas of false claims, contingent fee audits, decentralized administration, class actions, traveling employees, and daily sales tax remittance proposals. Bill was quoted from the presentation in the Law360 article “Local Sales Tax Compliance Costs Need Revamp, Panel Says,” about how Louisiana in particular is challenging for businesses, as its parishes have historically administered their own taxes, thus creating a complex and undue burden.
