Jones Walker's bankruptcy & restructuring team, led by partner and co-leader Mark Mintz and supported by associate Samantha Oppenheim, with additional counsel from partners Pat Vance and Lisa Futrell, represented the debtors in the chapter 11 case of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans. On December 8, 2025, Judge Meredith S. Grabill of the US Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana approved the Archdiocese’s consensual plan of reorganization. The approved plan establishes a $230 million settlement fund to compensate claimants, marking a significant milestone in the case. In coverage by Law360, Judge Grabill expressed hope that the settlement would help “rebuild trust” within the community.
