What started off in this Mississippi Legislative session as a bill to make mobile sports wagering legal on a statewide basis has now become a "study bill"--a thirteen member committee of regulators, legislators, and stakeholders will consider various models and issue a report before the 2024 legislative session.

In a move that falls short of what many proponents of statewide mobile sports betting had hoped for, the Mississippi Legislature passed a bill Tuesday that would create a Mobile Sports Betting Task Force to study the issue.
